Small mammal surveys on Pueblo Chemical Depot: Greasewood shrublands and sandhill prairies

From 1999 to 2005 CNHP visited the Pueblo Chemical Depot seasonally to sample small mammals from the various habitats. The majority of captures were of Ord's kangaroo rat (Dipodomys ordii), deer mouse (Peromyscus maniculatus), and northern grasshopper mouse (Onychomys leucogaster). Mark-recapture analyses and the use of environmental and vegetation covariates provided interesting information on what factors influence survival of kangaroo rats and deer mice.

Thanks to Max Canestorp (USFWS/PCD), Paul Lukacs (CDOW), Jim Gionfriddo (NWRC/APHIS).
