    • Shortly after the 1996 Four Corners Bat Meetings, where the Western Bat Working Group was formed, a handful of biologists from Colorado convened to develop a Colorado Bat Conservation Plan. Loosely aligned as a sub-committee of the WBWG, their mission was to develop a plan to conserve bat species found in Colorado. It wasn’t until 1998 that the group began referring to themselves as the Colorado Bat Working Group. Cheri Jones, then of the Denver Museum of Natural History, was the first chair of the group.
