Ophioglossaceae (Adder’s Tounge Family)

Look Alikes: B. lineare has a narrower and less fleshy rachis, a less dense and fleshy sporangia mass, more separated vegetative leaf segments, and is only known in Colorado from Boulder and El Paso Cos.

Spore-Producing Period: Leaves appear in early spring, spores produced in spring-July.

Habitat: Dry, gravelly hillsides, often associated with little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium). Elev. 3700-10,800 ft.
