Ophioglossaceae (Adder’s Tounge Family)

Look Alikes: The lower pinnae of B. pallidum, B. lunaria, B. minganense and B. simplex are fan or wedge-shaped; those of B. hesperium and B. pinnatum are oblong to ovate with rounded tips and not clearly separated. B. hesperium is dull green.

Spore-Producing Period: July.

Habitat: Gravelly soils, rocky hillsides, grassy slopes, and meadows. Elev. 9500-11,000 ft.
