Poaceae (Grass Family)

Synonym: Ptilagrostis mongholica ssp. porteri

Look Alikes: Stipa species that may occur in the same areas lack conspicu-ous feathery awns and do not grow in wetlands.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Fruit maturing from mid-August-early September.

Habitat: Hummocks in fens and willow carrs. Elev. 9200-12,000 ft.

Distribution: Endemic to central Colorado (El Paso, Lake, Park and Summit Cos.).
