Look Alikes: S. romanzoffiana has deeply constricted lip petals, more densely congested and shorter spikes, and occurs at higher elevations.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Flowers July-September.

Habitat: Sub-irrigated alluvial soils along streams, and in open meadows in floodplains. Elev. 4500-6800 ft.
