Orchidaceae (Orchid Family)

Look Alikes: L. cordata ssp. nephrophylla has stem leaves that are broad and heart-shaped; and corolla lips that are narrow and 2-cleft for half their length. has stem leaves that are broadly ovate (almost round); and corolla lips that are broadest at the apex.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Flowers late June-July.

Habitat: Moist, shady spruce forests. Elev. 8700-10,800 ft.

Distribution: Alaska, Yukon, east to Labrador and Hudson Bay, south to Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado (Chaffee, Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Grand, Gunnison, Lake, Larimer and Mesa Cos.).
