Cyperaceae (Sedge Family)

Synonym: Scirpus pumilus, S. rollandii

Look Alikes: Only species of Trichophorum in Colorado. Scirpus species have more than one flowering spike. Eleocharis species leaves lack blades.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: June-July/August-early September.

Habitat: Moss hummocks in very rich fens. Moss margins in willow dominated wetlands. Elev. 9300-11,000 ft.

Distribution: A circumboreal species. Eurasia, Yukon territory east to Quebec, south to California and Colorado (Park Co.).
