Cyperaceae (Sedge Family)

Look Alikes: E. gracile often forms large uniform stands that are recogniz-able from a distance because of reddish leaf tips. E. angustifolium has wider leaves (greater than 4 mm) which are bright green. E. altaicum has solitary heads and lacks well developed leaf blades.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Fruiting July-September.

Habitat: Fens, wet meadows, and pond edges. Elev. 8100-12,000 ft.
