Salicaceae (Willow Family)

Look Alikes: S. lucida ssp. caudata and S. lucida ssp. lasiandra have shining, long, acuminate leaves; shorter capsules (less than 7 mm long); and catkins that mature earlier in the summer.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: May-July/catkins mature late July-early September, later than most other willow species.

Habitat: Marshes or fens with other Salix and Carex species. Elev. 7800- 9300 ft.
