Fabaceae (Pea Family)

Look Alikes: No other mat forming Astragalus in this area has persistent spinescent leaf petioles. A. deterior and A. calycosus var. scaposus have flaccid leaf petioles and longer, oblong or narrowly ellipsoid pods.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Late April-early June/June-early July.

Habitat: Exfoliating Point Lookout Sandstone; rock ledges in pinyon-juniper woodlands. Elev. 5500-5850 ft.
