Cactaceae (Cactus Family)

Look Alikes: S. parviflorus has a hooked central spine and is larger than S. glaucus.

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Flowers April-May. Plants are usually only visible when flowering. After blooming, the cactus may shrink below the ground or become a dull grayish-green color.

Habitat: Rocky hills, mesa slopes, and alluvial benches; in desert shrub communities. Elev. 4500-6000 ft.
