Asclepiadaceae (Milkweed Family)

Look Alikes: A. pumila has flowers that are whitish and bloom from July into September, and filiform leaves. A. involucrata has larger leaves that are uniformly linear to lanceolate, and longer hoods (3-4 mm).

Flowering/Fruiting Period: Late April-May/June-early July.

Habitat: Shortgrass prairie, often on sandstone-derived soils and gravelly or rocky slopes. Elev. 4000-6500 ft.
