Asclepiadaceae (Milkweed Family)
Look Alikes:
A. pumila has flowers that are whitish and bloom from July
into September, and filiform leaves. A. involucrata has larger leaves that are
uniformly linear to lanceolate, and longer hoods (3-4 mm).
Flowering/Fruiting Period:
Late April-May/June-early July.
Habitat:
Shortgrass prairie, often on sandstone-derived soils and gravelly
or rocky slopes. Elev. 4000-6500 ft.

Distribution:
Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Oklahoma and E Colorado
(Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Denver, Fremont, Huerfano, Jefferson, Kit Carson,
Las Animas, Otero, Prowers, Pueblo, Sedgewick, Washington and Weld Cos.).
