Data Submission, Requests, and
Environmental Review

The CNHP Biological and Conservation Data system is used to evaluate projects for potential impacts to rare resources.  By working early in the planning phase of a land management or development project we strive to avoid and minimize impacts while considering alternatives that allow projects to be implemented.

How to Request Information
Information from CNHP's state-wide data system is available to the public, and can be used for conservation planning and to help facilitate the design and implementation of ecologically sound development projects.  CNHP has worked with landowners, local planning departments, government agencies, consulting firms, and conservation organizations.  New pipeline, roads, mines, and general conservation planning are excellent examples of projects where CNHP information has been of use. Information provided may include any of the following:

  • Lists of rare or imperiled species or significant natural communities known from an area,
  • Locational data (given at varying degrees of precision based on need and data sensitivity),
  • Species imperilment ranks and legal status,
  • Date of last observation, and data source.

Additional information (habitat descriptions, species accounts summarizing biological and ecological factors, threats and management needs, etc.) may be available as well.

Rates for Environmental Review Services:
For environmental review services which require research for a geographic area the following rates apply.  There is a $105.00 base fee for conducting the review, with additional charges assessed per USGS 7.5' (1:24,000 scale) quadrangle map.  Quad maps resulting in a positive search are assessed $115.00 each, while quad maps resulting in a negative search are assessed $55.00 each.  Please note that rates may be waived if the requestor is a "not-for-profit" user.  Rates for other types of environmental review services are negotiable on a project-by-project basis.
