Internet-based Biodiversity Database Workshop April 24 - 27, 2000

Windows DNA 2000 and SQL Server 2000

Michael Graber

Systems Engineer, Microsoft

This session covered Microsoft's development approach for writing scalable applications quickly, leveraging reusable code. In addition, we covered SQL Server 2000, and why SQL Server should be used by any organization considering developing an Internet application. Then we tied the technologies available in Windows DNA 2000 to the Internet-based Biodiversity Database. We discussed how these features could be best leveraged to give different groups that subscribe to the database the most flexibility.
